Dahi Paneer by Hema Subramanian is a creamy and tangy curry made with paneer, curd, and aromatic spices. A rich and comforting dish perfect with roti or rice.
Ingredients
To Make Roasted Paneer
400gms paneer (cut into cubes)
1tsp salt
1/2tsp turmeric powder
1tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1tsp kasuri methi
2tsp ghee
To Make Curd Mixture
500gms curd
1/4tsp turmeric powder
2tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1tsp cumin powder
2tsp coriander powder
1tsp garam masala
salt (as needed)
To Make Dahi Paneer
oil (as needed)
1tsp cumin seeds
bay leaf
2 onion (finely chopped)
1tsp garlic paste
1tsp ginger paste
1cup water
1/2cup cashew paste
curd mixture
roasted paneer
2green chilli (slit)
kasuri methi
coriander leaves (chopped)
Instructions
Prep Work

Cut paneerCut the paneer into medium sized cubes

Chop onionsFinely chop the onions and keep ready

Slit chilliesSlit the green chillies and set aside
4
Prepare cashew pasteBlend soaked cashews into a smooth paste
5
Arrange ingredientsKeep all spices and ingredients ready before cooking
Method

Marinate paneerAdd salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and kasuri methi to paneer and mix well

Rest paneerLet the paneer rest so the flavors absorb well
8
Prepare curd mixAdd spices and salt to curd and mix well
9
Roast paneerHeat ghee in a pan and roast the marinated paneer
10
Saute onionsHeat oil and add cumin seeds, bay leaf and onions and saute until golden brown
11
Add ginger garlicAdd garlic paste and ginger paste and saute till the raw smell goes

Add curd mixtureAdd the curd mixture and turn off the stove
13
Stir continuouslyStir the gravy quickly and continuously
14
Cook gravyTurn the stove on and cook the gravy while stirring
15
Add waterPour water and cook the gravy covered for few minutes
16
Add cashew pasteAdd diluted cashew paste and mix well
17
Add paneerAdd roasted paneer pieces to the gravy
18
Add chilliesAdd slit green chillies and cook for few minutes
19
Finish curryAdd kasuri methi and coriander leaves and mix well
20
Serve hotServe the dahi paneer hot with chapathi or naan
