What is Masala Pav?
Masala Pav is a popular Mumbai street food, usually served alongside pav bhaji stalls.
Instead of dipping pav into bhaji, here the pav itself is:
Tossed in spicy masala
Cooked in butter
Loaded with flavors
This version takes it up a notch with cheese, making it even more irresistible, especially for kids.

How to Make Masala Cheese Pav
Start by heating a wide pan. Add oil and butter, let it melt slowly and coat the pan.
Now add garlic, ginger, and green chillies. The aroma at this stage? That’s your base building.
Add chopped onions and sauté until slightly soft. Don’t brown them; you want them juicy.
Next, toss in capsicum and tomatoes. Cook them until slightly soft but still holding shape.
Add grated carrot and mix everything on low flame.
Now comes the spice layer: add turmeric, salt, Kashmiri chilli powder, pepper, cumin powder, and garam masala.
Mix it well so every bit of veggie gets coated.
At this point, add your chopped pav pieces. Gently toss them so they absorb all that masala.
Now add shredded cheese. Cover and cook on a low flame until it melts completely.
Open the lid, and you’ll see gooey, spicy, buttery masala pav ready.
Finish with fresh coriander.
Pro Tip💡 : Always cook on a low flame after adding pav and cheese. High heat can dry out the bread and burn the masala.
